Whether you love it or hate it, matcha is everywhere—from coffee shop menus to local bakeries. If you’re waiting for the hype to fade, think again. Yelp’s 2026 Food & Drinks Trend Report predicts we’ll see even more matcha in the coming year–even amid a global shortage.

According to the report, searches for ceremonial matcha are up 210% year over year, while searches for matchatinis jumped a staggering 1,036% (move over, espresso martinis!). Clearly, people are getting more creative with their matcha applications. Thanks to its earthy, sweet, and umami-rich flavor profile, it works well with many other flavors and formats. “It pairs seamlessly with botanicals, fruits, spices, and alternative milks, giving both baristas and home creators an expansive palette to innovate from,” says Hannah Habes, founder of Matchaful.

As such, matcha lattes have received flavorful upgrades and innovations that were once reserved for coffee. You can find everything from banana bread matcha lattes to horchata matcha drinks showing up nationwide. Cloud matcha, a beverage topped with a fluffy layer of whipped foam, is also trending, with searches up 429%.
